The spectacular mummy of Corythosaurus in the collection of the American Museum of Natural History was collected in 1912 by Barnum Brown and his crews along the bluffs and ravines of the Red Deer River in Alberta, Canada. It is among the finest dinosaur specimens ever found, in large part due to the preservation of fossilized skin impressions and a meshwork of calcified tendons, which stiffened the tail vertebrae.
