Alberto Augusto de Souza, contemporary aquarellist, disciple of Manuel de Macedo and Nicola Bigaglia, distinguished himself in watercolour because of the firmness of the drawing, the clarity of colour, and the sense of light, as evidenced by this painting: Main Gate of the Convent of Santa Clara, in Oporto, from 1954. He was especially noteworthy as interpreter of segments of architecture, replenishing of solidness and dignity in his outstanding cards.
