American painter Winslow Homer (1836-1910) early family vacations in Prouts Neck, Maine inspired his love for depicting Maine's coastal scenes and towns. After living in New York for more than 20 years Homer decided to permanently relocate to Prouts Neck, where he continued to work from 1884 until his death in 1910.
