"Karen's inspiration for the quilt came years ago when she fell in love with some of the design elements on a gift bag. Calling herself ""old school"" for her method of drafting designs on plain white paper, Karen began reworking the elements, changing the colors, and eventually designing two blocks that gave the appearance of a third where the corners meet.

The front is Karen's quilt,"" Renae says, ""but the back is my space. Her appliqués are so intricate, I'm always looking for designs that will enhance the design without overwhelming or competing with it."
