Maki Oh, Spring / Summer 2019

Maki Oh Spring Summer 2019 titled ‘Buka Special’ at Lagos Fashion Week 2018. Bukas are the lively, maternal and tactile traditional restaurants that double as community mainstays across Nigeria. The collection features hand-painted and hand-dyed adire motifs made in collaboration with ‘Adire Ogun’ artisans- an initiative of the Ogun State government and adire motifs take inspiration from the viscosity of okra soup, fresh fish, soup stains and pure water. ‘Mama Put’ herself is reflected in gentle voluminous silhouettes and silk kaftans are cinched echoing wrapped ‘eba’ and ‘fufu’. Vibrant stew red, aluminium silver, nylon yellow and indigo stain the collection.
