Javier Reta Gallego and Myrte Sara Huyts are the creators of Maleza Hatmakers, a workshop specialising in the artisanal production of high quality hats, where personalisation and sustainability are essential. From their workshop in Madrid, Maleza creates bespoke hats and limited editions, combining traditional and experimental techniques. Their approach is based on the exploration of shapes, textures and colours, using sustainable materials such as recycled felt and plant fibres. Using sculptural methods and botanical dyes, each hat is transformed into a unique piece, handmade from start to finish.
Maleza is characterised by constant innovation, using new forms and tools to offer high quality products that last. Their creations have been exhibited in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Tokyo and Amsterdam, and stand out for their functionality, aesthetics and durability. The workshop adapts to the needs of the 21st century, combining the traditional with the contemporary in each piece, designed for a demanding clientele that values the handmade and the unique.
