Manuel Homem de Melo da Câmara was born in Agueda on January 2, 1866 and died in Lisbon on 14 July 1953.
Son of Albano de Melo Ribeiro Pinto and Maria Augusta Homem de Macedo da Câmara.
Bacheral in Law, Faculty of Law, University of Coimbra, was Deputy Attorney Regius, Deputy, Civil Governor of Aveiro District.
In 1908 he was Member of the Commission in charge of reviewing the legal and administrative organization decreed by João Franco and then its Rapporteur. Was Senator in the presidential period of Sidónio Pais and in 1923-1925, Mayor of Aveiro.
It was Lord and was one of the last owners of Quinta da Aguieira, in Agueda, and Manor existing of the seventeenth century in it, inheriting it by will of Guilherme Teles de Figueiredo Pacheco, who died in 1902.
After the death of his father took the leadership of the Soberania do Povo newspaper, which led to his death, in collaboration with his brother, Dr. Antonio Homem de Melo de Macedo, and then directed by her eldest son.
His picture was inaugurated in City Hall, the 12 July 1953, on the occasion of a great demonstration of which was the target and that preceded a couple of days of his death.
4.009.º Commander (1909) and 889 Grand Cross (1909) of the Order of the Immaculate Conception of Vila Viçosa and Commander of the Order of Carlos III of Spain.
The title of 1st Count of Agueda was granted by decree of King Carlos I of Portugal from February 4, 1905.
Married on 14 October 1915 with Maria Jose Archer Crespo de Figueiredo (1898-1968) having been born of this marriage two children: Manuel José Archer Homem de Melo and Maria Jose Archer Homem de Melo.
