The first scene of the noh play Okina (The Old Man), entitled Manzai Dancer’s Drum (Manzai no tsutsumi emaki), is shown here. The artist captures the layout of a Noh theatre with the lead actor, wearing an elaborate robe and mask and holding a fan to accentuate gestures, performing with musicians and singers in front of a seated audience.
