Great Ruffins, Wickham Bishops, near Witham, Essex is a large house designed by Mackmurdo for personal residence, built in 1904 and still in existence today. For financial reasons Mackmurdo never occupied the house on completion and lived instead at Little Ruffins which he also designed, initially for his brother-in-law, Geoffrey Carte. In later years Mackmurdo lived at Mackmurdo's, a cottage again built to his own design.
