In the lower left corner is a framed legend that reads: Geographical Map of the Provinces of the Government of the Río de la Plata, Tucuman, and Paraguay. With part of the confinantes, Chile, Peru, Santa Cruz, and Brazil. Traced by Doctor D. Iuan Ramón, Doctor of Theology, Chaplain of His Magistrate in His Royal Chapel of Lima, Professor of Mathematics of the Royal University, and High Cosmographer of the Kingdom of Peru. 1683.

In the upper right section are shields of Castile and Portugal on either side of the Line of Demarcation that separated the Spanish and Portuguese domains in South America.
