Maria Gabriela Toledo and Vivi Valencia Serrano

In October of 2018, Orange County Library System hosted StoryCorps, a non-profit which provides people across the country with the opportunity to record and preserve the stories of their lives. Archiving the wisdom, experience, and cultural history of participants for the use of future generations.

During these recordings, local artist Thomas Thorspecken illustrated each of the subjects with pencil and watercolors.

Maria Guerrero is a former architect who founded the nonprofit, Women in the Arts, Inc. in 2007 to fulfill the mission of identifying, mentoring, promoting and rewarding the excellency of female artists, who are traditionally underrepresented and overlooked in the industry.

Natalia Guerrero works at the MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research on the NASA TESS mission. In addition to planet-hunting, she follows in the artistic footsteps of her mother by writing pieces for theater and radio and making multi-media art inspired by her experiences in astronomy and particle physics.
