The meeting of the monarchs, Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph II. and English King Edward VII., was held in Mariánské Lázně on 16. August 1904. Mariánské Lázně hosted hundreds of monarchs, Europeans politicians and diplomats and boasted these visits, which deepened fame as a center of international political and social centers. But meeting of monarchs was one of the most important events of the city's history.
