Flying and photographing. Alex MacLean successfully combined his two passions into a profession and an art. After graduating in architecture from Harvard, in 1975 he founded Landslides Aerial Photography in Cambridge (Massachusetts). He has since been soaring over the United States in his Cesna 182 to document its landscapes.
Natural settings, infrastructures, urbanised areas, agricultural zones and theme parks are represented in MacLean’s photographs as infinite patterns that reveal the bizarre geometry determined by (violent) human action in the landscape.
Invited by the MAXXI to participate in the "atlante italiano 007. Rischio paesaggio" project, MacLean captured a series of astounding and ironic images of Central Italy from the air in the midst of the summer season.
