On a rough sea, we can see a slightly inclined boat, with four men on board. The greenish water allows us to glimpse the bottom of the boat’s submerged hull, lit by the light from the sun. In the distance, the line of the horizon is interrupted by the white sails, and the blue sky is invaded by white brushstrokes.
Tomasini was a distinguished naval officer, although he had to retire for health reasons, after which he devoted all of his time and energy to painting. As a disciple of Tomás da Anunciação, Tomasini brought his great passion for the sea and boats into his painting.
