Face masks have become the symbol of the global pandemic, affecting us all. Regardless of where we come from, where we live, what language we speak or what beliefs we hold, we have all been faced with similar challenges to overcome, connecting us and bringing us together. This photographic series explores the symbolism of masks through the use of photography’s particular ability to describe an historical moment in a conceptual form. Each photograph encourages the viewer to question the way in which we reveal ourselves to others. And ultimately, ask ourselves: Has society turned into one big masquerade ball?
