Dick Chan was awarded Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree in Communication by the Hong Kong Baptist University in 1994 and Master of Arts Degree in International Communications by the University of Leeds in 2001. Having worked for several local Chinese newspapers as photojournalist and photo editor since the mid 1990s, he was honoured with many awards for photojournalism. He co-founded Lumenvisum in 2008 with friends to promote photographic education. In recent years, Chan has been exploring issues about culture, society and the environment. As Chan describes his thoughts in the Megafauna series “I once thought that at such a time when the goal of life is reduced to chasing after one’s own happiness, there is no place for image making in a model business city like Hong Kong. But then we find that we still keep on making mega-portraits. This time, in an unprecedented scale and with dogged determination, we again search for our titan.”
