The mask portrays Domenico Benassi, known as "Memo" (Sorbolo, 1981 - Bologna 1957), a drama actor characterized by an extraordinary versatility and expressiveness, immediately consecrated as one of the most original and greatest Italian theater actor. His numerous characters were always interpreted with unpredictable whim and dramatic effectiveness. It actually was this great ability to immerse himself in different personalities that "teased" Luigi Froni to seek the true mask of his subject. This work represents an exceptional proof of the interpretation of the actor's face, "seen in its mobility, in its possibility of being molded, almost inert matter illuminated by an extraordinary look".
