Aekjureumpo is a coat for men of the Joseon Dynasty, and has pleats under both armpits. It is also called aekchuui, bangcheopa, or aekjureum. It was worn by men of every class including the king, and became less commonplace after the Japanese invasion of 1592. This kind of coat varied in sleeve shape, length, color, and size of the chest strap. These coats were made into unlined, lined, quilted or cotton-padded variations according to the seasons. The shape and composition are varied, which signifies that the coats were worn not as ceremonial attire but for practical use.
