This is a straw net used to cover the ox’s mouth in order to prevent the ox from grazing on crops while working on the fields or damaging a neighbor’s crops. It is made in the form of a cobweb and attached to a drawstring to adjust the size of the net. It was generally made with twisted straw by making a circle first, weaving the strings in a spiral, and then joining the vertical sides and attaching a string to the edge of the circular frame. This mouth net was tied onto the bridle on an ox’s head.
