Padamsee’s Metascapes began in the 1970’s. His prolonged engagement with the genre of landscapes drew his concern to the mythical and archetypal quality of landscapes. They are characterized by the use of timeless elements, such as the sun, the moon and the earth.

Padamsee’s ‘Metascape- III’, is a majestic depiction of an imagined location that demands solitary contemplation. The bold use of colours, the vibrant red and earthy browns lend movement to an otherwise still and unmoving space. The ethereal landscape transports the viewer to a place where the self can be lost, then found and liberated.
