This is a pictorial record of a military training of the Yanagawa domain. It depicts training scenes of horse riding and gun shooting in the water, which was one of the military drills of the domain. It is illustrated in details with fine lines and coloring in a conscientious manner. We can see the soldiers’ tense expression in the pictures. On the upper part, there is also description which mentions soldier’s names, official positions, battle flags for their identification, and even their horse breeds.
The creator, Senchosai Suho was an official painter of the Yanagawa domain.
