The workforce of Dilsburg pit amounted to up to 1,400 miners. However, the pit was forced to close during the turmoil of the financial crisis in 1931 and was later assumed by the Ensdorf mine, and then Göttelborn. The photography from the early years of Dilsburg pit shows a group picture of the miners at the time and is surrounded by a contemporary mounting which is printed with romanticised mining images.
