Several hundred miniature accessories of hina dolls were held by the Tachibana family. Almost all of these accessories were made by Nanasawa-ya, a fancy doll shop in Edo, now Tokyo. This doll shop was renowned for its skillful craftsmanship that faithfully reproduced miniatures of the original. Please have a look at these astonishing miniature accessories, which replicate a bridal trousseau of a feudal lord family in the Edo period. They are extremely delicate and made to accurately duplicate each original, such as the game cards with poems written on them, Japanese chess pieces, and shells with pictures for matching games. Following the original-sized shells which were made from clam shells, these miniature shells were made from baby clam shells, rather than other kinds of small shells. This proves that special attention was paid to depict every piece in detail.
