Sumida, Japan

This miniature tobacco pouch was made by Kobayashi Rekisai (1884-1959) and his companions. The pouch is made of saraça, and kiseruzutsu (Japanese pipe case) is made of mulberry. The fitting metal of the pouch has the shape of chrysanthemum. Looking at the miniature kiseru (Japanese pipe), autumn plants are engraved on its mouth-piece and neck. The stem of kiseru is made of ivory. All of these pieces were made using the same material and technique as real products.
