Some of the khipus discovered in the storage area at Inkawasi were covered in remnants of ají chili peppers, black beans, and peanuts. The presence of crosslinked structures in courtyards adjacent to the storehouses suggest that these khipus recorded quantities based on standardized accounting units for each crop.
