The painting represents a composition on an altar. They are represented roses, carnations and two turtledoves, all allusions to the love theme, accentuated by the presence of a quiver in the composition, usually related to Cupid and a wedding ring with a wreath on the two animals. The part below is composed by a wooden altar that will be called "psyche", containing a mirror which would be related to the theme probably referring to the mythological figure of Narcissus, symbol of the selfish love. It is not by chance it is in the inferior part, almost indicating that the superior level of love to which the human being should aim is the pure mutual love than that one for themselves.
