In 1959, while he was in Puerto Rico, Astor Piazzolla learned of his father's death. When he returned to New York for the funeral, he composed the work in less than an hour. Adiós Nonino is a choreographic work for four dancers. They express their masculinity with powerful impetus until they are joined by two female dancers who lead them into more tender movements. Then they whirl together to the sound of the orchestra and bandoneon. With Alexandra Cardinale and Julien Lestel. Pictured: Gaël Alamargot and Mara Whittington.
