The Medical Society House was built in 1904 in Radziwiłowska Street. In September of the same year works on its interior design were entrusted to Wyspiański. The commission was initiated by Julian Nowak, the chairman of the Krakow Medical Society: “We have been wholeheartedly striving to make the interior of the house where we would spend increasingly more time appear as artistic as possible because we naturalists have an innate desire for beauty. For science and art flow from a single source, and just like in real art nothing great can be created without strict mathematical calculations, each profound scientific thought is bornout of inspiration.”
