This scale model kayak from Nunavik was made by an Inuit artist to be sold as a souvenir or toy for tourists from the South. The kayak is such a close replica that it serves as a precious record for researchers. The wood and seal skin model includes all of the equipment used by Inuit hunters: a double-bladed paddle (pautik), a lance (angovigak), a harpoon (igimak) and a hook (niqchiq). It was purchased by the donor's father who worked in the Arctic aboard the icebreaker N. B. McLean between 1940 and 1960.
