In addition to oil-paper, there are also other fabrics such as silk gauze, cotton cloth, etc., that are used for umbrellas made in Jialu village of China’s southeastern Jiangxi province. Based on the inheritance of traditional umbrella-making techniques, these new types of umbrellas witnessed innovation in terms of decorative patterns while keeping the overall folk art style.
With a bamboo frame composed of bamboo ribs, stretchers and handle, this umbrella has a dark-blue cotton cloth canopy ornamented with motifs of playing children.
