This silk woven picture of “Nine Creeks Meandering Through a Misty Forest”, a well-known scene of the West Lake, was crafted based on a photo taken by Mr. Du Jinsheng himself. It is the first black-and-white silk woven scenery picture in China. After successfully weaving the first “Nine Creeks Meandering Through a Misty Forest” silk picture in March 1921 based on the embossing mold made by himself in an experimental workshop, Mr. Du established Du Jinshen Silk Weaving Factory on May 15, 1922 in his home situated in Maojiabu of Hangzhou. Thanks to its distinctive style and affordable price, this novelty form of pictures has enjoyed high popularity, not only sold like hot cakes on domestic market, but also exported to Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, etc.
