Crafted by the umbrella-making master Tu Jialiang, this item has a black ferrule in the shape of the stone pagoda in the renowned West Lake scenery “Three Pools Mirroring the Moon”, wrapped in pink lace, and a white georgette canopy with a painting depicting the autumn scene of the river shrouded in mist, along with an inscription of the artist’s information “by Jialiang at the bank of West Lake in 1993”. Having innovatively included painting in the embellishment for West Lake silk umbrellas, Mr. Tu, who served as technician for the West Lake Umbrella Factory, helped to accentuate the artistic features of this traditional craft by developing new themes of ornaments such as court ladies, landscape, birds and flowers, etc.
