Made by the Chinese arts and crafts master Wang Wenying, this West Lake silk umbrella has 32 bamboo ribs glued with previously removed green outer bark, bamboo stretchers and handle, a buckle in the form of traditional Chinese frogs and a yellow green habotai canopy with machine-embroidered plum blossoms by working on both sides of the fabric using threads of different colors. These harmoniously-hued motifs crafted in the life-like fashion show a perfect combination of the painting art and the embroidery skills.
