National Museum of Natural Science
Taichung, Taiwan

The oldest moon rock is similar to peridotite in composition, and the rock of earth’s mantle is dated to be 4.6 billion years old as well, indicating the connection between the origins of earth and moon. The pieces exhibited were collected by Apollo 11, and donated by United States of America to Republic of China (Taiwan) in 1969, originally stored in the Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica, then given to National Museum of Natural Science in 1994.
