Artist's Statement: "Mop XLII is acrylic and pencil on canvas, 20 x 20 inches, and was created while I was an artist in residence at the Sam & Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts. The influence for the work is an industrial mop head, stemming from reading the word mop in a book. I started to think about how humorous the word was and how the actual object could relay humor. There is also the memory of my mother calling me a mop head when I was a teen anytime she wanted me to get a haircut (which was quite often)."
