This bronze English mortar from the 18th century bears the monogram of King George II, topped with a crown. The flash pan is decorated with a palm motif. The inscription of the barrage specifies that this mortar was gifted by General Washington to the Royal Auvergne Regiment, following the capture of the fortified constructions of Yorktown in 1781 during the United States' War of Independence.
