Mortar

Thick and massive pentagonal basin with an elevated flat base, edges flaring outwards, and a thick flat rim. It was used in association with a pestle to grind the meat laid inside it, for the preparation of traditional dishes such as kibbeh, where the minced meat is mixed with crushed wheat and onions.
