Moths

As the second largest order in the Insecta class, Lepidoptera includes nearly 200,000 species. It is mailny divided into two categories, Rhopalocera represented by butterflies and Heterocera represented by various moths. Although butterflies account for only 10% of the share, they are the most widely known. As many as 160,000 species of moths have been neglected because they are mainly active in the dark night. In fact, the Encyclopedia Americana wrote on the comparison between butterflies and moths: "There is no distinct difference in form and ecology", only that "moths account for most of the Lepidoptera, but people are more familiar with some beautiful diurnal butterflies."
This picture displays moths from all over the world, mainly Asian species, but also some from Africa and South America. The largest one is the Atlas moth (Attacus atlas), the insect with the largest wing surface are in the world, which is up to 300 square centimeters. The maximum wingspan of female can reach 28 cm. On the lower-right of its hindwings, there is Chrysiridia riphearia, also known as the Madagascan sunset moth. The tiny scales on its wings not only form beautiful patterns, but also can scatter light from different directions to form beautiful iridescence, just like the sun shining, which is colorful and very lovable. It is therefore considered to be the most beautiful moth in the world. Native to the island of Madagascar in Africa, its gorgeous color warns the predators about its toxicity. The moth with the longest tail is the Chinese moon moth (Actias dubernardi), and the other two species with long tails are also its close relatives.
