"When I started my career I simply wanted to make quilts and one-of-a-kind clothing well enough that I would be asked to teach.
I wanted my personal stamp on everything I made, and I wanted to help my students draw on their own resources--develop an idea or inspiration, choose the colors and techniques, and follow their own creativity in producing the very best work they could. When this has been accomplished, affirmation and satisfaction naturally follow.
Quiltmaking taxes creativity. We are somehow compelled to go through the 'what if?' process to see what happens. Eventually, we leave our mark on line, function, form, color, and texture. There is endless excitement to this process and endless satisfaction in its completion."
