The MPC60 is a 12 bit sampler workstation that had a major influence on the development of electronic and hip hop music in the late 1980's. It allowed musicians and producers to create elaborate tracks without a studio. It has a built-in sequencer which could create, edit and store up to 99 tracks per sequence, 99 patterns, and 99 sequences. These patterns could be varied and chained into a sequence to allow full compositions to be created. The MPC60 inspired experimentation and gave birth to a new breed of music producer.
