The painting depicts scenery at the foot of Datun Mountain, a winding road leading into a village the picture's central focal point. The Confucius Temple is flanked by Bao'an Temple, both no longer extant. The temples are beautifully constructed, with red eaves and white walls, typical of Taiwanese temples in an earlier period. This work and "Confucius Temple (Da Long Tong)," another of Ni's paintings, are structured similarly, but are completely different in style. The brushwork in this painting is more sophisticated, freer, and more luminous, the colors elegant and refined, in the style of Ishikawa Kinichiro.
