Mujeres [Women]

Women is a piece that derives from a process that I’ve been developing since the beginning of 2019, which attempts to denounce the invisibilization of women artists in Art History and at the same time vindicate them from a local perspective. The resource is the classical –documentary– gesture of the artist portraying a colleague. Until the early eighties, the names, works and faces of women artists didn’t even appear in the official and academic version of the art history of Córdoba. Even more, the streets and avenues named after artists only carry men’s names. The twelve women portrayed are contemporary Córdoba artists. Source: Itaú Cultural Visual Arts Award 2019-2020 Catalogue
