In 1956 the Archaeological Museum of Linares was created, being its first director D. Rafael Contreras, and from the museum began the foundation of research in Castulo.

In the following years, important historians and archaeologists of the time worked in Cástulo. Research continues today, and the museum remains its presentation and dissemination forum.

The collection of the Archaeological Museum of Linares contains materials from prehistoric times to the sixteenth century. Some were incidental findings, but many come from archaeological excavations.

In particular, they emphasize the burial offering of many Iberian tombs, being Castulo essential to know the Iberian world.
