Sketch for poster created for the city of Naples, Italy commissioned by the Napoli 99 Foundation.
This project commissioned 25 posters by renowned graphic designers celebrating the culture of Naples, Italy in 1986. The posters were exhibited in Naples, Rome, Los Angeles, Dundee, Lahti. Massimo Vignelli’s design features gloss black ink on a matte black background. The hand gesture dangling from the poster may be familiar to many heavy metal fans as the “mano cornuto” which is thought to protect you from the evil eye. There is also a bright orange horn hanging from the poster along with the “mano cornuto.” Poster text: Vedi Napoli e poi Muori [See Naples and then Die].
