“This necklace has been strung with a variety of Egyptian amulets, including two tiny frog-shaped beads (the frog was connected to fertility and fecundity), wedjat eyes, cowrie shells, and one circular amulet inscribed with the sa symbol. The sa hieroglyph was the word for ‘protection.’ The gold pendant with a Medusa-like decoration is not pharaonic in date.” (Jennifer Wegner, label text, “Sacred Adornment: Jewelry as Belief in Ancient Egypt”)
