These colourful necklaces were found in the Euphrates Valley in northeast Syria. They are made of chalcedony, agate, calcite, limestone, transparent rock crystal and opaque types of crystal. Most of these varieties of stone were imported through trade networks from the mountainous regions of Turkey. The necklaces were found in graves.
