Neclace of a garniture with gold topazes

Juvelerarfirma Gustaf Möllenborg1866/1868

Hallwyl Museum
Stockholm, Sweden

This necklace was a Christmas gift from Walther in 1868. Two years previously, he had given Wilhelmina the matching brooch and bracelet. The necklace was made in Stockholm by the Gustaf Möllenborg jewellers.

The necklace’s pendant can be detached from the chain and used as a small brooch. This practical design is one of the main reasons that garnitures became so popular. They could be combined and made bigger or smaller.
