Nelson Mandela recounts 1977 media visit to Robben Island

Nelson Mandela holds an image featuring himself and fellow Robben Island prisoners Andimba Toivo ja Toivo and Justice Mpanza. He recalled when in 1977, his 13th year of incarceration, South African prison authorities allowed a number of journalists to visit Robben Island. The intention was to persuede the outside world that the conditions were not as bad as widely believed.
