World of Warcraft (WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment in 2004. The game is praised for taking traditional RPG elements and implementing them in a way that both hardcore and casual gamers can understand and enjoy. WoW is famous for its ease in leveling and recovering from deaths, which allows players to quickly catch up to friends who may have been playing for a longer period of time. WoW was the best-selling PC game of 2005 and 2006, and currently has more than 10 million subscribers worldwide.

This artifact is an original server blade for the North American Barthilas Realm, and was in use from June 9, 2006 until June 9, 2010. The retired blade is one of approximately 2,000, which were auctioned by Blizzard with the proceeds being donated to St. Jude's Research Hospital. The blade includes a case and a plaque with the signatures of World of WarCraft developers.
