Born in Beijing during 1954, Zhu Jinshi is one of the most significant figures in Chinese painting from his generation. During the 70s, he began to practice an abstract form of painting, claiming that it more closely represented the inner-workings of the mind, and thus, it could also be considered a kind of “realism.” The names of his works are usually derived from Chinese traditional motifs.
